  • 1.5 spacing (except for poems)
  • British or American Spelling

4. For tables and illustrations, please:

  • Place all illustrations, tables, etc., at the designated sections within the text. Please label them accordingly (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.)
  • Use high-resolution JPEG format for pictures, illustrations, etc. Grayscale: 600 dpi; Colour: 300 dpi; Line art: 1200 dpi

  • Please submit a list of tables and illustrations used.

  • Please purge the document of personal information (computer user name, institution name, etc.).
  • The editorial board reserves the right to remove illustrations or limit their number. In the latter case, the author can choose which image(s) to keep or remove.

5.  Authors must submit two soft copies of their manuscript, one of which must not include their names and contact information, and must be purged of personal information (document properties such as user name, computer name, etc.).

To help ensure a double-blind peer review, authors are advised to remove any information that can point to their identity in any way. This includes first-person references to their own work (e.g. Please see my book.....).

6. Asian Studies uses the author-date reference system (in-text citation) as described in The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition. Please consult http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html for basic examples. Explanatory footnotes are allowed and a list of references is required at the end.

7.   Authors are solely responsible for securing permission to cite or reproduce any copyrighted content BEFORE submission. Indicate such permissions in an "Acknowledgement" section at the end of the manuscript before the end notes and list of references.

Please submit a letter, addressed to the Managing Editor, listing all copyrighted works used and attesting that (1) all required permissions have been secured, or that the manuscript uses material that does not need permissions to be used, and (2) that references have been cited accurately and in good faith, and (3) that the manuscript has never been published in any form. Lastly, indicate sources/permissions in image captions.

8.  Authors must submit a separate document that contains a brief profile stating their occupation, institutional affiliation, academic background, research interests, and any published work. Please provide contact information:

  • Postal address
  • Contact number
  • Email address

9.  Authors must submit a 150-300 word abstract, as well as up to 7 keywords.

10.  While every care is taken with manuscripts, the editors can take no final responsibility for their return. Contributors are consequently urged to retain copies of all work submitted.

11.  The editorial team may ask for requirements other than the aforementioned.
