Author Guidelines

Articles must have a high degree of scholarship. They will have to be approved by the RWS editorial board and by selected national and international referees for publication.

All contributions must be original, should not have been published previously, and not currently under review for publication elsewhere.

Articles may be written in English or Filipino. All articles must be accompanied by an abstract of 200 words. Articles in Filipino must be accompanied by a fairly comprehensive abstract in English.

Reviews of current scholarship, local or foreign, are accepted. Creative works, e.g. poems, short fiction, drawings, and printed copy of paintings, mixed media or installation art are also accepted.

Submissions are required in printed and electronic forms in Microsoft Word file.

Articles must have a maximum of 10,000 words and 6,000 words for book/art reviews. When articles include graphs and tables, the maximum should be 50 pages. All manuscripts must be typed written, double-spaced in Garamond, 11 pts. on letter size (8 ½” x 11”) copy or bond paper. All contributions must be accompanied by diskettes/CD using Microsoft Word version 97 or higher.

All articles should use the author-date in text citation, i.e. Chicago Manual of Style, 15th ed. (2003). Please consult the CMOS regarding notes, references, tables, graphs, diagrams, maps and photographs, e.g. endnotes should be created as regular text and placed before the references.

The author should be responsible for securing permission for the use of copyrighted materials.

Photographs should be of good quality, black and white. Color slides are also acceptable. Line drawings or maps should be original in black waterproof ink on separate sheets. All illustrations should be numbered on the reverse side, with the numbered captions on a separate sheet. Photographs and drawings will be returned to the authors after the journal’s publication. All tables should be in word processing files rather than spreadsheet or database files.

Contributions should be accompanied by two to three lines of biographical data, which should include the author’s present position and area of work.

The author’s complete mailing address, phone/fax/e-mail information must appear on the first page of the manuscript only. The author’s name or any other information that could identify the author should not appear in the abstract or the manuscript.
