Abstract

One of the emerging topics in Philippine historical studies is human-natural environment relations. Within this development, understanding Filipino society’s responses to natural processes like climate is one focus. The paper is a narrative of agro-climate history of Central Luzon during the first decades of the 20th century. This period is characterized as era of progressive instrumentation in institutional meteorology. And from this, the agricultural sector, particularly rice cultivation faced the changes brought not only by climatic processes but also by the colonial policies the Americans implemented in the Philippines during the said period.
