Studies on Sugbuanon Affixes

Abstract

Sugbuanon is the language of the island of Cebu and is spoken also in Oriental Negros, Bohol, southern Leyte and the minor islands of the Bisayan islands, as well as in some regions of Mindanao. With about 3,620,685 people speaking the language, it is the second largest linguistic unit in the Philippines next to Tagalog. These pioneer Studies on Sugbuanon are based on similar studies made on Tagalog. This article is a list of the affixes used in the Sugbuanon language for the numerals (the exact expression of quantity), the substantive, the verbal, and the quasi-verb.
