Tagalog Time Adverbs
Abstract
… The purpose of this paper is three-fold: (1) to present an analysis of Tagalog time adverbs, (2) to classify the time adverbs and (3) to list them all in their forms…
… Tagalog adverbs are words belonging to a closed class that occur in constructions of modification with verbs, adjectives, nouns, and other adverbs. Besides words, phrases and clauses also perform adverb functions.
There are three principal kinds of adverbs in Tagalog based on the questions they answer: (1) adverbs of time, (2) adverbs of place, and (3) adverbs of manner.
This thesis is a study of Tagalog adverbs of time. Tagalog time adverbs may either be words, phrases, or clauses. The term word includes the enclitics, one-morpheme words, affixed forms, and compounds. Phrases are larger forms that do not constitute a sentence pattern but function as a grammatical unit. Clauses are larger forms that constitute sentences which are parts of longer sentences.
